National Geographic won 15 Webby Awards, including the coveted Webby Media Company of the Year Award, recognizing a wide range of work across numerous digital platforms.
The wins highlight the breadth of National Geographic’s storytelling platforms, from the podcast "Overheard at National Geographic," to National Geographic’ WILD’s Instagram, to season 3 of "Wild_life with Bertie Gregory," to The Atlas of Moons graphic, and even National Geographic Society’s Education Resource Library.
Winning Media Company of the Year twice in three years is a real testament to the power of National Geographic storytelling across platforms. But it’s even sweeter that our 15 awards were for work that spans the range of what we do — from Social to graphics, the website to the magazine. I could not be prouder of our team for this well-deserved recognition.
Susan Goldberg, Editor in Chief of National Geographic and Editorial Director of National Geographic Partner
As a mission-driven media company, these 15 awards are much more than a pat on the back— they are proof that what we’re doing matters to people and further motivation to cultivate the explorer in everyone.

Considered the internet’s highest honor, the Webby Awards received nearly 13,000 entries this year, from 50 states and 70 countries, and 3 million votes were cast for the People’s Voice Awards. All nominees are eligible to win the Webby Award, selected by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, and the Webby People’s Voice Award, voted on by consumers. Fewer than 10 percent of the entries were selected as nominees. National Geographic received 23 nominations overall.
Patton Oswalt virtually presented the award for the Webby Media Company of the Year to National Geographic Partner’s Chairman Gary Knell on Tuesday, May 19. Knell gave a 5-word acceptance speech, which the Webby Awards are famous for: "Stay hopeful, stay curious, explore."
