National Geographic magazine reaches 49 million print and digital readers in 33 languages worldwide.
The English edition of the February 2021 issue featured a cover story about the NASA rover, ‘Perseverance.’ This story explores the fascination with the red planet, taking a look at some of the planet’s biggest mysteries that keep us in suspense, while also focusing on what past rovers have achieved, as well as the new discoveries that ‘Perseverance’ will pursue.
Given the global science focus of this story, and a topic as universally fascinating as Mars, most of the local-language editions followed the English edition’s cover.
Many editions used the same cover photograph as the English edition, while a few editions went with images of Mars or the rover itself.
